Men’s Shirts : Tips For Your Next Purchase
Shirts are a key item of any man’s wardrobe and they’re one of the first things people notice when they meet you. There are loads of styles to choose from and it can be hard to know what’s hot and what’s not, so we give you the lowdown on the coolest shirts around. First up, the lumberjack. These are generally made out of flannel but you can choose lightweight options for summer, too. The checkered pattern and dark colors look great with dark jeans and work well together.
An absolutely classic shirt style is the long-sleeved dress shirt. If you like to try out different colors, you could try muted shades such as dark green, midnight blue or charcoal grey. These are guaranteed to go with almost any outfit and will look brilliantly smart, meaning you can wear them with a smart suit to look great at the office or with a pair of your favorite jeans or dark chinos. Alternatively, if you’re after a fresh, crisp look, go with a white shirt.
Dress shirts aren’t just limited to block colors, though: a discreet pattern can be a great way of standing out from the crowd while looking endlessly smart, too. Pinstripes are fabulous here as they’ll look great with your regular suit and just as good with a pair of jeans on your day off. You could also try a paisley-patterned shirt. These aren’t as garish as they sound: go for a pattern that’s only a couple of shades different to the base color for a subtle, smart look.
Of course, not everyone is a fan of the traditional dress shirt, in which case there are also loads of tees you can choose from. The polo shirt is a great example of this. It looks great in a whole range of colors so it’s great if you’re looking to inject a bit of spice into your wardrobe. You can also choose a short-sleeved one for an effortlessly cool summer look or go for the long-sleeved alternative to see you through fall and winter – especially great with nice jacket.
Our final suggestion is the classic crew neck tee. Any man looks good in one of these; you just have to get the right shape for your body so you look more James Dean and less like you just wandered out of the house in your pajamas after forgetting to change. The shirt shouldn’t be too baggy as this can be a fatal mistake for your outfit. Don’t go too tight, either, as it’s not flattering. A shirt that fits close to your body but isn’t stretched is ideal.
